HIV/AIDS AWARENESS AT AKPAJO SECONDARY SCHOOL
An HIV/AIDS Awareness sensitization visit was carried out today at the Akpajo Senior and Junior Secondary Community Schools. The students were educated about HIV/AIDS and what exactly it stood for, how the disease could be contracted and how it could be avoid. In her lecture, the representative from the Ministry of Health made the students aware that the most important way of avoiding the disease was abstinence and for them to focus on their education.
She however advised that if they could not abstain, the best option is to ensure that they used protection and stayed with a single partner. She also made the students aware that they should speak out also if they are been sexually assaulted at home or at school since sexual intercouse was one of the methods of transmission and keeping silent would not help matters but rather aggravate issues.
Students were given HIV/AIDS branded Notebooks by the Caywood Brown Foundation to help them remember the training and the message that HIV/AIDS is real and should be thought about as well as talked about to the present generation.
